Systematic approach for Treatment Success

Oral surgery and implantology are becoming increasingly complex, driven by digital workflows and interfaces. As a result, stand-alone solutions are reaching their limits. What today’s practices demand are fully integrated, end-to-end systems. This is exactly what the W&H Oral Surgery Compass represents. Designed as a practical guide, it supports clinicians throughout the entire treatment process – from diagnosis and digital planning to safe execution, as well as monitoring and documentation. The result is a seamlessly connected ecosystem in which devices, software and digital processes work hand in hand, enabling predictable outcomes, efficient workflows and a dental practice that is well-prepared for the future.

Image Acquisition

A precise diagnosis is the first crucial step in the treatment chain. Only when clinicians have access to all relevant information, they can plan procedures safely and tailored to the individual case. With Seethrough, W&H offers two forward-looking CBCT units: Seethrough Max and Seethrough Flex provide high-resolution panoramic and 3D images. Performance is, among other things, further enhanced by the Seethrough Studio software, which connects directly to ioDent® – W&H’s cloud-based platform that enables secure access to imaging data, patient data management and more. “Seethrough Studio supports everyday practice with fast, straightforward X-ray imaging and detailed, precise adjustments when complex cases demand them. The intuitive user interface ensures that all key information is available at a glance,” says Valeria Ferrari, W&H Product Director.

Treatment Planning

Based on precise diagnostic data, the procedure can be planned and prepared in a targeted manner. For complex implantological requirements, SICAT complements the W&H Oral surgery workflow with powerful implant planning software. “Our goal is to provide dental professionals with a solution that makes their day-to-day work significantly easier – a workflow that ranges from X-ray imaging with Seethrough and diagnosis to final implant insertion,” explains Andreas Brandstätter, Product Director Oral Surgery & Implantology. “The 3D implant planning of the SICAT Implant software is a key component of this workflow – an outcome of our strategic partnership with W&H,” emphasises Jochen Kusch, Managing Director of SICAT.

Treatment

Once diagnosis and planning are complete, the next phase involves implementing all preparations into practice. In parallel, the implantation data from SICAT Implant is automatically transferred to ioDent® and therefore directly available to users on the Implantmed Plus II as a recommended setting.

Whether wisdom tooth extraction, implant placement or an apicoectomy, W&H supports surgeons during the procedure with high-quality devices that provide targeted support for every step of the process.

The new Implantmed Plus II combines a powerful surgical motor with intelligent functions. Complementing this, the new Piezomed module Plus II brings innovative ultrasound technology into everyday practice. Dr Aly Virani shares his first impression of the new Implantmed Plus II: “What particularly impresses me is that we can now transfer the planning data directly to the device, while everything that happens during treatment is automatically documented at the same time. This saves an enormous amount of time. Having all this information stored in the cloud is a real game-changer.”

Monitoring & Decision Support

Seamless monitoring and documentation are crucial for the quality of every implant treatment. Using resonance frequency analysis, Osstell Beacon provides confidence when assessing implant stability and helps to ensure predictable treatment workflows. “The technology of resonance frequency analysis gives us a profound insight to what is happening around our implants and has become the essential part of our decision-making in immediacy,” says Dr Joerg Martin-Ruppin.

Documentation

The new Implantmed Plus II provides dentists and oral surgeons with outstanding support in their documentation. Thanks to the integrated scan function, implants and biomaterials can be captured directly via packaging code, eliminating time-consuming manual follow-up documentation. Besides that, this data serves as the source for generating reports such as implant passports or referral documents, ensuring full traceability. “The new Implantmed Plus II makes documentation much easier. You simply scan the materials used and everything is recorded. This makes day-to-day work significantly easier for the entire team, from the nurses who do no longer need to collect boxes, stick labels, or make handwritten notes to material management, since all information is readily available; and not forgetting billing, that doesn’t miss charging any material used for the specific case,” says Prof. Dr Andreas Stavropoulos.

Compass for tomorrow’s dental practice

“The combination of Implantmed Plus II, Seethrough imaging and cloud-based data creates true end-to-end integration. For the entire practice team, this means more efficient workflows and, ultimately, more time for our patients,” says Dr Aly Virani. Digital technologies are revolutionising dental treatment. By optimally integrating devices, software and digital processes, W&H helps users in making every treatment step efficient, safe and with a clear focus on the patient.
