Osstell is pleased to announce that the new reusable SmartPeg has been launched as an important extension of the established SmartPeg portfolio, offering clinicians greater flexibility when measuring implant stability.
For more than two decades, the SmartPeg has been recognised as a core component of the original Osstell ISQ concept, enabling accurate and objective assessment of implant stability through the proven RFA technique. The reusable version has been developed as a cost‑efficient complement to the sterile single‑use SmartPeg, while preserving the same measurement workflow and maintaining the accuracy clinicians depend on.
According to Malin Gustavsson, CEO at Osstell, “the reusable SmartPeg was introduced to give dentists more options without changing the way they work or the accuracy they rely on. It simply adds flexibility and value while preserving the scientific integrity for which Osstell is known.”
Consistent ISQ values, two SmartPeg formats – one validated aluminium design
The reusable SmartPeg has been designed with the same validated aluminium construction cited in more than 1,500 scientific studies, ensuring identical ISQ accuracy. Up to 20 reprocessing cycles are supported, providing a durable and economical option for practices aiming to streamline costs.
Key features include:
- A protective surface coating for long‑lasting performance
- A black-coated magnet for easy orientation and clear distinction from the single‑use version
- Laser‑marked type and LOT number for straightforward identification
Osstell remains the only company offering both a single‑use and a reusable SmartPeg made of aluminium, ensuring that no conversion tables are required, regardless of which SmartPeg version is used – provided that measurements are taken with an Osstell instrument. This ensures full consistency of ISQ values across the entire portfolio.
With the availability of both reusable and single‑use SmartPegs, clinicians are supported in choosing the option best suited to their workflow, while benefiting from one unified and validated ISQ method. Full compatibility is maintained across all Osstell devices – including Osstell Beacon, Osstell Classic, and earlier systems such as IDx.
Supporting clinicians worldwide
Osstell’s mission to support dental professionals in providing each patient with the optimal time to teeth continues to be advanced through this expanded SmartPeg offering. By broadening the portfolio, the reliability and clinical confidence associated with ISQ measurement are further strengthened within implant dentistry.
The reusable SmartPeg is being introduced in waves, and availability may vary by region. Further information can be obtained from your local Osstell representative. You can read more aboout the Osstell SmartPeg portfolio here.
