Updated SmartPeg Reference Guide available!
Jul 1, 2026
We are happy to share with you that the Osstell SmartPeg Reference Guide is now updated. The updates are effective as of July 1st, 2026.
We would like to inform you about important updates to the Osstell SmartPeg Reference Guide, which take effect July 1st, 2026. Please note the following changes:
The SmartPeg Types 101, 102, 103, and 104 will once again be included in the SmartPeg Reference Guide.
These SmartPegs, used exclusively with the Nobel Biocare N1 system, were temporarily removed last year as a precautionary measure. Following thorough testing and design updates, we are now confident in reintroducing these SmartPegs.

To support accurate and consistent ISQ measurements at abutment level, we are also reinforcing the Instructions for Use (IFU). When measuring at abutment level, ISQ values typically differ from those taken at implant level – generally being lower. To ensure reliable tracking of implant stability over time, we recommend the following procedure:
- Initial measurement: Measure ISQ at implant level before placing the abutment.
- Abutment level measurement: Measure ISQ at abutment level during the same session.
- Determine the offset: Note the difference between implant- and abutment-level ISQ values. This offset remains stable throughout healing.
- Follow-up measurements: Use the offset to interpret abutment-level ISQ values over time.
This approach enables consistent monitoring of implant stability, also when measuring at abutment level.
Both the initial and updated designs are reliable when used according to the above standard procedure.
